I’ll admit I wasn’t terribly disappointed by the whole hockey experience.\u00c2\u00a0 I have now seen six games in my entire life and I will lay off of it from now on because unabashedly, I actually enjoyed watching it (and I was only drunk four of the six games, that was the real test).\u00c2\u00a0 I was wrong, it isn’t “soccer on ice;” they hit hard and they skate fast and they run plays very similar to basketball.\u00c2\u00a0 With that said, I’ll go see a game if the tickets are free.\u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n
There’s a certain enjoyment to the innocence of watching a new sport you have zero knowledge of; it’s quite emancipating.\u00c2\u00a0 I wasn’t analyzing the finer aspects of the game; hell, I was just trying to keep up with the puck.\u00c2\u00a0 I even had my own version of “Why do they run it up the middle everytime?”\u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n
By Game 5 I was even commenting on how well they were “skating” and last night I made the comment that the RBC crowd standing the entire game was a local college thing a full three minutes before the announcer made that exact same parallel.\u00c2\u00a0 I still have no clue what icing is and I’m ok with that.\u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n
Most importantly, it’s always rewarding to find additional ways of reminding Canadians just how inferior they are to Americans, particularly Southerners.\u00c2\u00a0 There’s good reason they’ve all moved down here.\u00c2\u00a0 “We stand on guard for Thee,” my fat, white redeneck ass.\u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n
